International Dialing Ethiopia
This is the international dialing code used when dialing from Ethiopia. International Dialing Ethiopia Code is also known as Ethiopia International Direct Dialing prefix (or IDD) is used when dialing from the Ethiopia to outside Ethiopia (sometimes also refers to as Ethiopia international access code). Do not use Ethiopia IDD code when dialing within Ethiopia. By simply using the Ethiopia Dialing Code before the number, it unables you to place a call to outside Ethiopia from within Ethiopia. Without this international dialing Ethiopia Code, you will not able to place a call outside the Ethiopia because the telephone exachange will not reconginize it as a valid international call.
To dial a international number outside Ethiopia from within Ethiopia, you have to dial International Dialing Ethiopia Code or Ethiopia International Direct Dialing prefix (IDD), Ethiopia Country Code, City/ Area Code, and then the subscriber telephone number respectively as:
+251 (International Dialing Ethiopia Code) + (Country Code) + City Area Code + Number you wish to call.
When dialing from a mobile phone outside Ethiopia from Ethiopia, only Dial '+' + (Country Code) + City Area Code + Number you wish to call. (The "+" is universal mobile international direct dialing prefix also includes Ethiopia)
On the other hand, when dialing to Ethiopia from outside Ethiopia, a Ethiopia Country Code is used. Ethiopia Country Code however is not used when dialing within Ethiopia.
The other type of code is Ethiopia National Direct Dialing prefix (or NDD). It is used only when dialing to a destination within the Ethiopia (Refer to dialing Ethiopia code). Ethiopia NDD code is only used as long distance dialing within the Ethiopia. Do not use Ethiopia National Direct Dialing prefix when dialing from outside Ethiopia into Ethiopia.
