International Dialing Gambia
This is the international dialing code used when dialing from Gambia. International Dialing Gambia Code is also known as Gambia International Direct Dialing prefix (or IDD) is used when dialing from the Gambia to outside Gambia (sometimes also refers to as Gambia international access code). Do not use Gambia IDD code when dialing within Gambia. By simply using the Gambia Dialing Code before the number, it unables you to place a call to outside Gambia from within Gambia. Without this international dialing Gambia Code, you will not able to place a call outside the Gambia because the telephone exachange will not reconginize it as a valid international call.
To dial a international number outside Gambia from within Gambia, you have to dial International Dialing Gambia Code or Gambia International Direct Dialing prefix (IDD), Gambia Country Code, City/ Area Code, and then the subscriber telephone number respectively as:
+220 (International Dialing Gambia Code) + (Country Code) + City Area Code + Number you wish to call.
When dialing from a mobile phone outside Gambia from Gambia, only Dial '+' + (Country Code) + City Area Code + Number you wish to call. (The "+" is universal mobile international direct dialing prefix also includes Gambia)
On the other hand, when dialing to Gambia from outside Gambia, a Gambia Country Code is used. Gambia Country Code however is not used when dialing within Gambia.
The other type of code is Gambia National Direct Dialing prefix (or NDD). It is used only when dialing to a destination within the Gambia (Refer to dialing Gambia code). Gambia NDD code is only used as long distance dialing within the Gambia. Do not use Gambia National Direct Dialing prefix when dialing from outside Gambia into Gambia.
