International Dialing Malawi
This is the international dialing code used when dialing from Malawi. International Dialing Malawi Code is also known as Malawi International Direct Dialing prefix (or IDD) is used when dialing from the Malawi to outside Malawi (sometimes also refers to as Malawi international access code). Do not use Malawi IDD code when dialing within Malawi. By simply using the Malawi Dialing Code before the number, it unables you to place a call to outside Malawi from within Malawi. Without this international dialing Malawi Code, you will not able to place a call outside the Malawi because the telephone exachange will not reconginize it as a valid international call.
To dial a international number outside Malawi from within Malawi, you have to dial International Dialing Malawi Code or Malawi International Direct Dialing prefix (IDD), Malawi Country Code, City/ Area Code, and then the subscriber telephone number respectively as:
+265 (International Dialing Malawi Code) + (Country Code) + City Area Code + Number you wish to call.
When dialing from a mobile phone outside Malawi from Malawi, only Dial '+' + (Country Code) + City Area Code + Number you wish to call. (The "+" is universal mobile international direct dialing prefix also includes Malawi)
On the other hand, when dialing to Malawi from outside Malawi, a Malawi Country Code is used. Malawi Country Code however is not used when dialing within Malawi.
The other type of code is Malawi National Direct Dialing prefix (or NDD). It is used only when dialing to a destination within the Malawi (Refer to dialing Malawi code). Malawi NDD code is only used as long distance dialing within the Malawi. Do not use Malawi National Direct Dialing prefix when dialing from outside Malawi into Malawi.
