International Dialing Malta
This is the international dialing code used when dialing from Malta. International Dialing Malta Code is also known as Malta International Direct Dialing prefix (or IDD) is used when dialing from the Malta to outside Malta (sometimes also refers to as Malta international access code). Do not use Malta IDD code when dialing within Malta. By simply using the Malta Dialing Code before the number, it unables you to place a call to outside Malta from within Malta. Without this international dialing Malta Code, you will not able to place a call outside the Malta because the telephone exachange will not reconginize it as a valid international call.
To dial a international number outside Malta from within Malta, you have to dial International Dialing Malta Code or Malta International Direct Dialing prefix (IDD), Malta Country Code, City/ Area Code, and then the subscriber telephone number respectively as:
+356 (International Dialing Malta Code) + (Country Code) + City Area Code + Number you wish to call.
When dialing from a mobile phone outside Malta from Malta, only Dial '+' + (Country Code) + City Area Code + Number you wish to call. (The "+" is universal mobile international direct dialing prefix also includes Malta)
On the other hand, when dialing to Malta from outside Malta, a Malta Country Code is used. Malta Country Code however is not used when dialing within Malta.
The other type of code is Malta National Direct Dialing prefix (or NDD). It is used only when dialing to a destination within the Malta (Refer to dialing Malta code). Malta NDD code is only used as long distance dialing within the Malta. Do not use Malta National Direct Dialing prefix when dialing from outside Malta into Malta.
