International Dialing Mauritius
This is the international dialing code used when dialing from Mauritius. International Dialing Mauritius Code is also known as Mauritius International Direct Dialing prefix (or IDD) is used when dialing from the Mauritius to outside Mauritius (sometimes also refers to as Mauritius international access code). Do not use Mauritius IDD code when dialing within Mauritius. By simply using the Mauritius Dialing Code before the number, it unables you to place a call to outside Mauritius from within Mauritius. Without this international dialing Mauritius Code, you will not able to place a call outside the Mauritius because the telephone exachange will not reconginize it as a valid international call.
To dial a international number outside Mauritius from within Mauritius, you have to dial International Dialing Mauritius Code or Mauritius International Direct Dialing prefix (IDD), Mauritius Country Code, City/ Area Code, and then the subscriber telephone number respectively as:
+230 (International Dialing Mauritius Code) + (Country Code) + City Area Code + Number you wish to call.
When dialing from a mobile phone outside Mauritius from Mauritius, only Dial '+' + (Country Code) + City Area Code + Number you wish to call. (The "+" is universal mobile international direct dialing prefix also includes Mauritius)
On the other hand, when dialing to Mauritius from outside Mauritius, a Mauritius Country Code is used. Mauritius Country Code however is not used when dialing within Mauritius.
The other type of code is Mauritius National Direct Dialing prefix (or NDD). It is used only when dialing to a destination within the Mauritius (Refer to dialing Mauritius code). Mauritius NDD code is only used as long distance dialing within the Mauritius. Do not use Mauritius National Direct Dialing prefix when dialing from outside Mauritius into Mauritius.
