Sri Lanka Country Code
For data processing and communications and Sri Lanka and it's dependent areas is represent by a Sri Lanka Country code. Sri Lanka country code is a short numeric geographical code (geocodes) developed by the ISO 3166-1 system. Sri Lanka country code is freqently refered to as Sri Lanka dialing codes or Sri Lanka E.164 calling code.
Sri Lanka Country Code is used when dialing to Sri Lanka from outside Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka Country Code is however not used when dialing within Sri Lanka.
To call Sri Lanka from outside Sri Lanka, you have to dial the your own country's International Direct Dialing prefix (IDD), Sri Lanka Country Code, City/ Area Code, and then the subscriber telephone number as:
Your Countries International Direct Dialing Prefix (IDD) +94 (Sri Lanka Country Code) + City Area Code + Number you wish to call.
When dialing from a mobile phone outside Sri Lanka into Sri Lanka, Dial '+' +94 (Sri Lanka Country Code) + City Area Code + Number you wish to call. (The "+" can be reached by holding down the "0" key until it turns into a "+". The "+" is universal prefix for all international mobile telephone calls including Sri Lanka)
Sri Lanka International Direct Dialing prefix (or IDD) is used when dialing from the Sri Lanka to outside the country (Refer to international dialing Sri Lanka code or Sri Lanka international access code). Do not use Sri Lanka IDD when dialing within Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka National Direct Dialing prefix (or NDD) is used when dialing to a destination within the Sri Lanka (Refer to dialing Sri Lanka code). Do not use Sri Lanka National Direct Dialing prefix when dialing from outside Sri Lanka into Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka NDD is only used as long distance dialing within the country.
