Dialing Italy

The other type of code is Italy National Direct Dialing prefix (or NDD). It is used only when dialing to a destination within the Italy. Italy NDD code is only used as long distance dialing within the Italy. Do not use Italy National Direct Dialing prefix when dialing from outside Italy into Italy.

For Italy long distance, you have to dial Italy National Direct Dialing prefix (or NDD), City/ Area Code, and then the subscriber telephone number respectively as:

+39 (Italy National Direct Dialing prefix code) + City Area Code + Number you wish to call.

On the other hand, International Dialing Italy Code or Italy International Direct Dialing prefix (or IDD) is used when dialing from the Italy to outside Italy. Do not use Italy IDD code when dialing within Italy for long distance.

On the other hand, when dialing to Italy from outside Italy, a Italy Country Code is used . Italy Country Code however is not used when dialing within Italy.
