Dialing Uruguay
The other type of code is Uruguay National Direct Dialing prefix (or NDD). It is used only when dialing to a destination within the Uruguay. Uruguay NDD code is only used as long distance dialing within the Uruguay. Do not use Uruguay National Direct Dialing prefix when dialing from outside Uruguay into Uruguay.
For Uruguay long distance, you have to dial Uruguay National Direct Dialing prefix (or NDD), City/ Area Code, and then the subscriber telephone number respectively as:
+598 (Uruguay National Direct Dialing prefix code) + City Area Code + Number you wish to call.
On the other hand, International Dialing Uruguay Code or Uruguay International Direct Dialing prefix (or IDD) is used when dialing from the Uruguay to outside Uruguay. Do not use Uruguay IDD code when dialing within Uruguay for long distance.
On the other hand, when dialing to Uruguay from outside Uruguay, a Uruguay Country Code is used . Uruguay Country Code however is not used when dialing within Uruguay.
