Dialing Australia

The other type of code is Australia National Direct Dialing prefix (or NDD). It is used only when dialing to a destination within the Australia. Australia NDD code is only used as long distance dialing within the Australia. Do not use Australia National Direct Dialing prefix when dialing from outside Australia into Australia.

For Australia long distance, you have to dial Australia National Direct Dialing prefix (or NDD), City/ Area Code, and then the subscriber telephone number respectively as:

+61 (Australia National Direct Dialing prefix code) + City Area Code + Number you wish to call.

On the other hand, International Dialing Australia Code or Australia International Direct Dialing prefix (or IDD) is used when dialing from the Australia to outside Australia. Do not use Australia IDD code when dialing within Australia for long distance.

On the other hand, when dialing to Australia from outside Australia, a Australia Country Code is used . Australia Country Code however is not used when dialing within Australia.
